Speaker: Tom Melzer, Managing Director, RiverVest Venture Partners
Topic: "Why It Is So Difficult to Raise Early-Stage Venture Capital Now and What Are Some of the Alternatives"
Tom Melzer is a managing director and co-founder of RiverVest Venture Partners. He works with portfolio company CEOs as a confidant and adviser on strategy, management and financing. Before co-founding RiverVest, Melzer was one of a handful of individuals who had the distinction of directly influencing U.S. monetary policy. As president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, he directed its involvement in the formulation of monetary policy, the supervision of banks, and the provision of payments services to depository institutions.
Spotlight Organization: Veterans Business Resource Center, Darcella Craven
The Veterans Business Resource Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting honorably discharged veterans, National Guard and Reservist and active duty personnel transitioning back into civilian life with starting and expanding businesses. Darcella Craven is the Executive Director of the Veterans Business Resource Center and she has over 15 years of experience in corporate, government, nonprofit and military organizations.
Cost: Members free, guests $40 per person

Rams Park - A special members and invited prospective member/guests Event - August 24, 5:00-7:30pmOn Tuesday August 24th at 5:00, the Membership Committee will be hosting a special members only event at Rams Park. The evening will start with the opportunity to see the Rams’ practice followed by cocktails and appetizers in the Georgia Frontiere Suite where Kevin Demoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the St. Louis Rams, will discuss the “State of Affairs” of the Rams, including the draft of Sam Bradford. There will be time for Q & A as well! This is a member’s only event, but members are encouraged to bring prospective members / guests. The cost is $10 for a member, and $10 for each prospective member / guest.
